So I got a chinese SKS in iffy shape with a buba'd stock add on and deceided to make it my permanent bush gun since it is used and I got a great deal on her.
The sock is worn, a very poorly unfinished 2 inch addition was done for LOP I assume. THe upper handguard is loose and cracked. The gun was very dirty but the bore is very good.
Well through some horse trading I got a NIB desert tan tapco stock set, I prefer it over black since the guns metal parts are almost black. ANd thanks to Killerkane11 at the regina show I got a 1x32 red/green lit crosshair scope. SO this build will cost me about...well I will not say to avoid making some people sick but lets say very cheap.
The stock swap including wiping a few parts down from powder reside was 20 minutes. I could do it faster but why take the risk of dropping the gun or other issues. I think I will be selling off the B Square see through mount as I do not like a rear mounted optic on my SKS as to the brass tinging off it issues.
It is the gun at the bottom of the pic, the top one is my SKS-D.
And here she is finished with bolt and trigger functioned to make sure it works as intended.
I may get a shell deflector later and put a 4x32 scout scope on it yet. I also am thinking about miling the bolt and bottom of the receiver for the AK mags now that I have an SKS-D to compare and measure off of. It is not an easy conversion at all but I do have a lathe and mill at my disposal but after I use it a few times I just may still with some Tapco duckbill mags. Jury is still out on that though.
