Cheap way to thread barrel

Bring it to someone who knows what they are doing and does it for a living...

There is no way to thread a barrel with common tools that you or I could buy from say "Canadian Tire".

Even if you could find a die... that die would probably cost more than a proper shop would charge you.

:D

If you've ever tried making your own threaded bolt/screw (I have) I would never, ever, ever try to thread anythign that I wanted to look professional - a barrel on my beloved firearm? No way! LOL!!

As my Grade 12 Mechanics teacher 'Mr. Howard' once told me... "You got to pay, to play with the big boys." - It's true

I agree, most times the barrel has to be turned down to the major thread diameter first and then it has to be threaded. To get the thread straight it is best to do the threading on a lathe.

A die would cost you twice what would be charged to thread your barrel for you. Dies do not have the lead-in to assure the thread would be straight to the barrel, the lead-in would have to be on the barrel. THAT would suck! A lathe would cost you many times more than what one threading job is worth.

Get a job in a machine shop! Don't let them catch you with gun parts at work though or else you'll get punted out the door.
