My only stipulations are the A) it has a picatinny/weaver forend (not the standard tubular one} and B) It be south of $1200

I've searched on and on, and it seems to be between the upgraded (with quad rail) Norinco or NEA (which no one has in stock) everything else is $1499+ (Questar, etc.)

Either way if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated, I would like to spend around $1000 if I could.

thanks.

Honestly, if your looking to get one, dont skimp on quality just because you might have to wait a little bit. From what Ive heard (key here, not tried) Norincos are totally serviceable and reasonably priced. A 10.5" norc just sold for $740 shipped with 4 mags on the EE.

It all depends how picky you are. Norinco is lower end (doesn't mean its crap), works fine, and has the lowest price tag. NEA is new, but lifetime warranty and made in Canada. Watch the EE like a hawk and a good deal will come around.

Here you go, look at this one. Front and rear sights, optic, rail ect. Not the cheapest one you will find, but a start.

Thanks for the help guys, the last one posted (the one on the EE) is EXACTLY what I'm looking for as a finished product, maybe with just a shorter barrel, but other then that, exactly what I want it to look like

You're going to be hard pressed to do that rifle for anywhere close to what you want to spend.

Norinco AR - $699
Magpul MOE stock and grip - would it be around $100?
Vortex Strike Fire - $169
MBUS - maybe around $60?
Magpul rail covers - got mine off Ebay for less than $20 delivered (3 pieces)
Total is around $1048 + taxes...not including the pmag? Might be pretty close to his original budget...not $1k, but around $1.2k.

Oh I realize that totally, I was talking about spending what I listed for a bone stock AR with just a quad rail, nothing else.. I just mean when I'm done modding and customizing that's more or less what I want it to resemble :)

 What are you putting the rail covers on? ;) The Norinco doesn't come with a railed handguard and you haven't included one in your list.

You're right...I forgot about my quad rail...but it's a knock off too. Came with the rifle...figured a knock off quad rail wasn't out of place on a knock of rifle anyway...lol. :D

I'm really starting to get bit by the AR bug. Planning on building my own AR in the near future.

I think you're light on the parts by about ~$50-$75, plus the aforementioned quad rail/parts you need to replace. And tools, shipping and taxes. I think $1,400-$1,450 is probably a more realistic estimate. For that price I think a better investment would be a used low-round LMT, Stag or RRA.

Sniper### - loved that Norc on the EE too, really looks slick. I was never a fan of the tan stuff but that one sold me.

You're probably right. Getting a used Norc in the EE would help a little with the taxes and maybe a bit off the price. I got a good deal on my setup, and I'm happy with it. If I had to pay full retail on everything, I probably would go with a more stock US made AR than a tricked out Norc.

Sniper### - PS. Not sure if your EE ad is realistic, but maybe you'll get lucky (I haven't seen any NEA's up for sale).

Most of the people on the EE are delusional, thinking they're going to get $100-$300 MORE for a used gun, when a brand new one is $300 cheaper, and their rationale is that it has 2 extra mags or a sling, ffs...people get too sentimental/attached.

Once in a while a sane/reasonable person comes on there with a fair offer

but in reality (for example) why would I pay $900 for a gen 3 glock with 1000 rounds fired through it, oh because it has an extra mag and $20 night sights?! LOLOL

Apparently, a gun that's seen a couple of hundred rounds through it also qualifies as "brand new" in the EE sometimes...lol. :D

These ones look decent...I especially like the short one...

At $800, you can spend another $169 for the Vortex Strike Fire and be pretty much done. + taxes and shipping as applicable, of course. Would probably be right around your budget.
