I want to get a 9mm 1911 because I have lots of 9mm on hand half of which was free.

I obviously have been looking at marstars hi cap 9mm 1911 since its the only 9mm they have in stock, but would also consider other brands 9mms. but most i have seen have been over a grand. anyone know of the cheapest non norinco 1911 in 9mm and where to get it from?

I think ruger has some
Just get something from EE you wont pay tax and have iot a bit used so it will be cheap

Who'd a thunk it? :p

Seriously, if you are going to look at 9mm 1911's that aren't Norinco mfg then expect to pay some serious coin.... ;)

I know you said Non-Norinco but quite honestly - if I wanted a 1911 9mm- I would buy one fron Marstar and send it to Gunnar for a tune-up and fiber optic sights.

Gun - around $450 in your hands
Tune-up - $100
Sights - $150-$200

Nice pistol for $750 tops.

Sometimes theres a used STI ranger II on the EE for under a grand. Tauruses PT1911 appears to come in 9mm. But so far I have only seen 45's up here. Marstr has Bul transmkark pistols. Some of them are in 9mm. But they are only kind of a 1911. They have polymer frames. Cool guns though.

Well,

To me the nicest 9mm 1911 is the Trojan. Classic without the hi cost of 45 ammo. Used to have a Norc and it's a fine gun and I did what most people did and started from there for costumization but in the end, I invested too much, did get much in return when I sold it because it was a Norc and in the end nothing beats a good quality and tight firearm.

Of the 15 pistols I have had and almost all are in 9mm, the most accurate for me was my STI. Eventually sold it and now, I've just bought another one out of regret...

You can start crying now...

When it comes to "reasonably priced" 9mm 1911s, you don't have much choice. Essentially, your options are limited to STI (Trojan and Ranger II), Springfield Loaded and Kimber (Stainless II and Stainless Target II). These guns retail in the $1000-1300 range. Of the three, I would go with STI or Springfield, in that order. I'd stay away from Kimber.

Another option is finding a used 9m Colt (they don't make them in that caliber anymore).

Yet another option, and IMO the best one, would be to buy the gun that John Moses Browning himself intended to be the 9mm version of the 1911. I'm talking about Browning Hi-Power, of course.

I'd wait for a Taurus 1911 in 9mm, should go for $650 to $750 range. I have a SS STI 9mm and it's sweet and accurate. I also have a Taurus SS 45 and it's sweet and accurate. Price difference between the 2.....$600!!!! That's new out of the store.
