picked up a 500 from cabelas a while back, came with two barrels and a cheap set of furniture, now to upgrade this to a proper shot gun i need an action slide w/ nut , forend and stock, if anybody has done this upgrade or knows where to get these parts on the cheap, feel free to impart your wisdom on me.
Thanks, scott

I hunted one of those cheapo sets for two years. Believe me it is well engineered. It will not fail you. The cost of upgrading your current 500 will be more than the initial purchase of a 500 with the wood forearm. The 500 in all forms is a proper shotgun that will last a lifetime. I would put the money towards shells and possibly the means to attach a sling. A steel safety button replacement is also a consideration but I have never seen a broken plastic one. I own 2 model 500's and a Maverick 88 all are 100% reliable and good shooters.

I think, other then finding something on EE, you are further ahead if you want it too look better to buy something different with it installed factory, they are workhorse guns, not sure if boyds has stuff for a stock but it might only be a buttstock then and nothing else.
