Chec 28 and yugo 48 rifles

I have bought two of the M48's. One was truly exceptional re quality and shoots about 2.5" at 100 yards with factory and I suspect it can do better in the hands of someone who shoots well with iron sights. The other M48 was, however, of a much poorer quality and has been returned to the seller. I have no experience with the other rifle

I have a YUGO M48 I bought from Marstar. Can't really tell you about what size group they shoot as I didn't keep track. Just remember that I shot my first deer with one a few years back with iron sights..since then I've had it scoped(bolt bent down) and found that Federal 170 SP works well. I have alot of Igman 170SP left which is a very hot load. If I am zeroed @100M with Igman and try a Federal, Winchester or Remington they all will fall approx 12 inches below, give or take... The 2.5 inch groups descirbed above seems fair. Also tried Prvi in 139GR Sp which was again ok...but lousy in the K98. Yet to have the Nosler 180 and Hornady 170's reloaded and tried yet.

I got the M48-BO from Marstar last november and at a hundred I can hit a 10cm grouping, with the odd shot out, on iron sights unchanged since the cosmoline came off. Winchester Super-X ammo.

I have had both models of rifles. The Czech rifles are well made and smooth, shot well. Mind you the latest batch (while being a refurb) looks better than what I had years ago. I have had about 6 of the yugo rifle ranging from the M48A, M48, and I think a M48BO but that one was along time ago. Some (the ones I have had) are smooth and are well put together, good value. The last M48 I have had an very oversized stock and the bolt was tight and sticky.

Pete
