I bought this rifle in the EE recently. It is a beauty, and it can shoot too. It is a DOT 1944, but it seems to be something that was refurbished by the Czechs at some point. The bayonet it came with doesn't match, and a couple of the small parts don't match, but all the main parts match. Is there anything that you guys can tell me about the rifle based on what you see in the pics? I can try and take some better pics of the markings. There are no Eagles, no Swastikas, and no X's on the rifle, but there are plenty of markings. The price was $550 shipped. I figure that was a fair price given what other K98-style rifles are going for. The add is probably still up in the EE. I think the seller could have gotten more, but it was one of those "e-mail for pics" scenarios. I e-mailed, and I said "I'll take it" immediately afterward.

Amazing how much military-style firearms have shrunk in the past 65 years. This rifle is on a whole other scale from the other long guns I have:

Wow

 That is one of the most beautiful K98's I've ever seen. I'm truly envious that you were fortunate enough to buy that rifle. Nice job man. Thank you for posting!

O.k., here are some attempts at close-ups of the markings. Very hard to get clear shots with the kind of camera I have, but anyway.

BTW, I am not concerned about the serial number being visible.

On the left side of the receiver there are two markings which have been removed. I am thinking that they could be two Nazi Eagles. They seem to be about the right size.

On the top is the "dot", "1944" and a "63" Waffenamt. I understand there are several different kinds of "63" Waffenamt, mostly associated with Brunn, but not all. This is clearly a Brunn/Bruno/Czech made gun, so that makes sense.

Then there is this "FH" thing. To the left of the letters it appears to be a shield with the letters "dot" in the top, and "13" below that. The "13" part is very clear. No doubt about what that is. The tiny "dot", I could be wrong.

On the right side of the reciever there are these two Waffenamts. They are both "63". I'm not sure if they are exactly the same. The top parts look like three horizontal lines with a "V" in the middle. Below the left on is an eight pointed star, or sun.

At the back there is this. On very close inspection, the right one is definitely a "63" Waffenamt. The left one might be as well. Or does it say "13" or "14". It is really hard to tell.

Czechs kept building the K-98's for sometime after the War, using old and new parts. They even sold some to Israel and Pakistan.
