Hey guys,

came across this on EE

"FS Tasco mildot 6-24x42
Tasco Scope 6–24X42 mildot with two kind of mounting systems.
Leupold QRW mounting system & High rise mounting system. 350$ + shipping"

I laughed when I saw it, these POS scopes sell for $120 new at retail, this guys trader rating should be negative.

Figured I should let people know.

bad karma, to diss a specific advertisement in the EE. What something is worth is what someone is prepared to pay for it. On this issue we all tend to keep our opinions to ourselves.

send the guy a pm.
he may have paid that for it and just doesn't know any better. I remember as a stupid teenager and desperate for a 10/22 I paid $700 for one. I had no idea of guns at the time and the guy said the bushnell range master scope was worth $350.

Ouch! Expensive lesson to learn.

Seriously - send the guy a PM. As mentioned, sometime people just don't know what the stuff is really worth.

I've PMd a couple guys explaining that they might want to adjust pricing. You don't need to be a dink - a simple suggestion based on market value is usually gratefully accepted.

No need to jump all over the guy. He'll see after an infinite number of BTT"s with no action that he won't sell it. 99.9999% of the cgn fellas know their prices and for anyone else just search around the interweb a while and you'll soon see what stuff is worth.

But I do see what you mean with some of the price asked some times.

a more realistic scenario is that you message them politely and they get all pissy.

Yeah, but all things being said, it's not cool to jump all over the guy simply because he's asking more than the going price. As far as I'm concerned, if he's not BS'ing in the product description, then it's buyer beware. You oughta to be smart enough to know about the value of what you're buying. No need to jump on the guy in an unrelated forum. Nobody jumped on Gatehouse's back for advertising a .375 Ruger for over three grand, WTF's with that??? :runaway:

Don't get your sh%t in a knot because of over priced items on EE, just because you can buy new for the same money or less. It would be a full time job as most items fall into that category.

If you don't like the price, close the thread and move on. He may not know what its worth, and when he doesn't get any replies, he'll figure that out. No need for a negative trader rating.

Maybe he'd take the first offer of $95 for it.;)

yup thats what will happen. Better to let the market place speak for itself.

This is a different scenario but i've had PMs offering "helpfull" advice on pricing for stuff I had on the EE. A member PM'd me that my price was too high. I asked what he based his opinion on. He responded. I asked how he came up with that price... and so on ad nauseum. After a week and a dozen or so PMs he finally offered to buy it himself for half the asking price. I told him that was impossible because the item had sold for full asking price within an hour of posting it on the EE. Never did figure out why he got shy all of a sudden...

Maybe somebody should start a new thread about the goofy reasons some people come up with when they want a discount. I got a couple good stories to tell on that one.
