does anyone check there loads for runnout?
I bought a hornady concentricity tool a while ago and got around to setting it up today. I checked some 338 06 loads first. 200 grn nozler bt and 200 grn sst's loaded with redding dies. not one of the nbt was out more than 1 thou the sst's not more than a couple were out 1.5 thou, most around or under 1 thou. pretty good. I deceided to try some factory 308. federal barnes triple shock not one with run out past 1.5 thou. fed soft points a few with up to 2 thou and finally winchester power shock run out exceeding 3 thou and all over the place. I have always found federal factory to be accurate guess they assemble it a little more acurately than Winchester. with the hornady tool it was easy to adjust the run out to be under 1 thou. a very nice tool to add to my reloading kit.
