I have 4 mags, all seem to be the new Checkmate mags made for Sig. The 2 black steel mags are pretty good (thought these were Sig or MecGar but look identical to the others), the 2 grey aluminum ones are so uncomfortable to load, as they are tight as a drum.
I used a small screwdriver to push up the little spring at the bottom, then slid off the baseplate, while holding the spring in place.

When I looked at each mag inside, the black one was super clean, maybe a trace of lube, the grey one had caked on crap inside... I'm sure this is why the spring doesn't go down easy, getting stuck on this sh!t inside. Either someone took a sh!t inside them at the factory or these are used... You can barely read the print on the outside of the mag. I'm going to scrub them inside and out then see if this fixes the issue.

You can see the caked on crap inside... probably cleaning this out will cause the spring to move freely.

Now they are clean, loaded easier, I must say. One was a breeze. The other one I still struggled to get the last one, think I didn't clean or lube as good as I should have.

There you go guys. Take them apart and clean that crap out, then lube. I'll re-do the one and save my fingers/thumb.

How would you go about polishing them? The black ones were spotless and clean inside (glossy/polished finish). The aluminum ones are rough, inside and out.

Use a dremel cloth head with some red compound. My dremel comes with an extension rod that can fit inside the tube. I'd polish the follower with steel wool too.
