ques.#1 are chedite 209 primers the same burn rate as win.209 primers ques.#2how do you tell chedite cases from other non discriped cases.I have access to lots of suppose to be chedite cases, these have 4 stars on the case heads ,also are the base wads the same in all chedite cases. any info would be greatly appreatiated.:beerchug:

i have used the primers for few years now insted of winchester or Fed and have had no trouble with them as for the Hulls i find they look to be cheap and would not re-load them id rather go with winchester AA's or Fed gold med

Cheddite hulls most commonly available in Canada would be Kent and Challenger. Cheddite hulls have more capacity than Winchester hulls and are closer to Federal Gold Medal than anything else. Alliant suggests that any load of their's in Gold Medal will work equally well in Cheddite hulls.

While I've heard over the years that WW209 and Cheddite primers are interchangeable I've not seen data from anyone that would confirm this. I've interchanged the two without concern but feel that Cheddite primers are a bit hotter than WW 209 and will drop my loads half a grain if using Cheddite primers. YMMV.

chiddite cases

thanks for the prompt replies ,guys.one more ques.the hulls i have Goblal Shot .COM STAMPED ON THE CASE HEAD and say Reo on the hull are these chiddite cases?:beerchug:

If Rios aren't cheddites, they are close enough.
Cheddite hulls are straight walled as opposed to tapered walls like Remington STS, Gun Club, Peters blue, and Winchester AA, Super Sport etc.
You must use a straight walled wad in a straight walled hull.
Most European hulls are cheddites.

Cheddite primers can used used interchangeably with Win 209s. They are a fraction bigger than Rems or Wins so once you use cheddites, you can't go back to Win or Rem, or the primer will fall out.

Cheddite are as good as any and much cheaper. They also drop better in a MEC 9000.
