i have a savage 99 that i had to put high rings on so that i could get a scope bigger than 36mm. i had a 32mm on but i found it sucked in low light conditions. now that i have higher rings on there i put a bushnell banner 3x9x50mm on it. i see great in low light now and i'm am really happy with the scope, however, it is so high now i can't get a very good cheek weld. is there a pad or something i can attach to my existing stock or is there a fairly cheap synthetic stock i can buy that will help.

Pipe insulation and gun tape. It doesn't sound like a target rifle that you will be spending hours with on the range so this would be the quick a dirty way to fix it.

no it's no target rifle but i've had it for quite a few years and i know that rifle inside out and backwards now. after all these years i can still place tight groups and hit a pie plate out to 400 easily in any weather. for me that's all i need. i rarely have line of sight any farther than that where i live. that being said i'd rather not start into taping it but a cheaper fix would be better. i inherited it from my uncle and i'd like to take care of it. the packs look pretty good but they don't look like they will they raise my head very much. i could be wrong though it's hard to tell from a pic. also do the packs stay firm to the stock or do they slide around a lot?
