Hey guys~not sure whether the question belongs elsewhere or not...but...maybe someone here can help me come up with a solution. (i.e., not a new, big $ stock!)
I recently upgraded to a 50mm obj. and even at 44mm previously, I think my Savage 10 could have benefited from a cheek riser. Now it's a "must have" in my opinion. Until now, I've used one of those cheap, black, slip-on elasticized things that have shell holders on the right side. I use the gun to varmint hunt so it's a feature I find very convenient, especially since I don't leave brass in the field as a frugal reloader.
Anyhow, in a weak moment, I bought a leather "Triple K" cheek riser at Cabela's today and thought "I can do without the shell holder" but then one of the grommets tore out while installing it anyway. Back that thing goes, but I'm going to abandon that idea anyway.
So....what's out there that will add about 3/4"+ rise, hold some ammo...and not look ridiculous? OK, I get that they all kind of do...however..."necessity is the mother" sort of situation here. Don't mind spending little to get something decent, but I'd prefer to buy it in Canada. Even better from a CGN sponsor.
