Anybody know if the internal parts of the Chiappa 1873 SAA pistol are interchangeable with other 1873 pistols ?

Apparently the internal parts are alloy instead of good strong steel.

I don't know about the interchangeability but I suspect the parts are more likely case hardened mild steel. Works fine until the casing wears through. With regular cleaning and oiling, those parts should last a long time

I wish that was true but here is a statement pulled from their web site....

"components constructed from a special formulated alloy that offers greater ductility and flexibility assuring long lasting reliability and durability". It is a really cheap pistol.

I hate to say it but you probably should have bought a Pietta or Uberti.

Just when I'm starting to think that Chiappa/Armi Sport might not be as bad as I was thinking thanks to talking to the LGS that sells their stuff a thread like this one comes along with soft alloy internals.

If you can offer up some pictures with measurements then we can likely answer your question more accurately. Otherwise you're stuck waiting for someone that bought one and has a selection of the other to compare to.

As in the first step would be to measure things and see if it's the same size frame and screw center spacing. If you don't have a set of calipers now would be a good time to get one. With it you can measure the center to center distances of the three action holes in the frame for us to compare. You do that by measuring the smallest distance with the outside jaws then the longest distance you can get with the inside jaws and calculate the average. Do this for all three of the center to center distances between the three holes. And measure the pin sizes.

If your hole pattern matches our hole pattern then odd are high that it's a stock sort of frame. If they don't then you're up the creek without a paddle.
