Hello all,
Alright well here is the short version not that I am a newbie or that I am frugal. Okay okay fine I am both but I bought the above mentioned pistol and would like to know if anyone has done anything other than shoot it? Meaning change grips or some internal parts if possible please show pictures.
Thank you for looking.

I had the Chiappa branded version and frankly it wasn't such a bad pistol. I bought mine from shooter's choice in Alberta.

Most guys complain it doesn't look very good, the steel is cheap pot metal, and the mags are plastic. Who really cares? It's $300, what do you expect? And it's a .22. It shoots well, though. Mine apparently had a trigger job done before I got it. It was a heavy trigger, but crisp (as you would expect for a GI 1911).

Internally, it's closer to a Walther PP with the fixed barrel design. I wouldn't take any of the grips off to work on the internals unless you're a gunsmith. It's kind of a birds nest as I understand.

It's a blow-back design and works well. I'd try to find the target version if I were you. Adjustable sights make all the difference.

If you don't care for it you can always trade up for the GSG 1911-22. But I feel there's far too much snobbery tossed around regarding these pistols. There's really nothing wrong with them. Most guys simply took a dislike to them. I never had an issue with mine. I traded mine after I found something I wanted more.

From the research I have done the main problem is the breakin period and the plastic magazines I hope that is the case wih mine I am still waiting on the CFO.
Thank you for the comment and and input I will let it be and just shoot it unless I decide otherwise

Unfortunately no not for 50$ but maybe another 100$ and then shipping so it would have been out of my price range. I will let you know if it turns out to be a something I regret but right now I am very happy with the purchase and the seller.

Excellent attitude. If you're happy with your purchase, that's all that matters. Budget-consciousness is admirable.

The gun will shoot fine for you. The mags will give you no trouble. You aren't trusting your life to the thing, after all. "I'd never buy anything that had a plastic mag." Horses$#t. Those guys have drunk the Kool-Aid.

Granted, you aren't going to get Anschutz-style nail-driving out of it, but it's a 1911! The 45s don't shoot as well as that, either, including the higher end choices. Then again, most guns will shoot better than any of us can hope to. If it meets YOUR criteria for what YOU intend to use it for, it's the right gun for YOU. Don't look back.

Happy shooting!

I would just about have given you my Chiappa... it is now a safe queen.... I shot the #### out of it but the constant failures got annoying... and seemed to get worse with time... CCI Blazer seemed to work the best for me.. other bulk .22 was more frustrating... guess I will keep it to train new shooters on all of the failures... One 10 round mag should do the trick to get the entire gambit of failures :p

I guess what I meant is for some more $$$ you could have got a functioning 1911, instead of the chiappa which is only a look a like (does not actually function like a 1911)

but who am I to tell you what to do, enjoy what you have

I am hoping that it will work just find. I really appreciate the comments and completely understand what you mean buy sPendIng the extra cash but it should be a great learner pistol non the less
