The 9mm magazine kind of ruins the look. Has anyone seen a 3D printed clam shell (or whatever) to make it look like a proper .30 Carbine magazine?

Following because I agree - I would like a magazine cover to make it look more like an M1 Carbine.

The M1-22 Chiappa has this feature

Following for if anyone makes/shares a file. I don't have a printer myself but have a few buddies with ones

Are they still jam-o-matics? I had one a few years back but sold it (at a significant loss) because it NEVER ran smoothly... Didn't matter what kind of mag or ammo.

When that ugly tacticool model was released like 2 years ago or whatever people were claiming they did make them more reliable at some point. I've heard too many reviews like yours to take a chance on one though. Too bad because they look fun and are (were? haven't checked prices lately) very affordable - not many PCCs that cost under $500-600, the only other one I can think of is the Hi Point but it can't use 10rd mags.

I picked 1 up at a great price because of that. Took me 45 min to figure it out and 10 min with a file to fix it.

I've had mine for about a year now and have run about 350-400 rounds through it. Mainly assorted cheap aluminum 9mm and I haven't had a single malfunction

Details of your fix please!

Take 20 rounds and use a marker and put a line on 1 side, base to top, around the base to the primer.
Load them into mags, with the marker facing up.
Load and fire. When it jams, remove the mag and pay attention to the base and where it's hanging up. In my case there were burrs on the bottom of the bolt from the machining process.
Clear and repeat to make sure of your results. Look closely at the base and you'll probably see the where the burrs are catching. They are not very deep or long, that's why the sporadic jamming.
Instead of trying to figure out how to pull the bolt out I used a couple zip ties to lock the bolt back and felt around where the burrs were. They'll be at the bottom of the bolt. I used a small file to remove them and rounded the area slightly. Feel around to make sure you get'em all.
Take it out with marked ammo and try again. It'll work or you'll have file VERY little more. Look at the fired base's and see if the burr is gone or just reduced.
Have fun!!

Anyone made any progress on a "Magazine Clamshell" to make these mags look better/more like the original M1 mags?

The standard M1 mags and the pro mags the Chiappa M1-9 take are pretty close to the same width. You could probably chop the top half of a 30 round M1 mag and stuff the promag into the bottom and glue it in place if it were not for the pro mag baseplate. You'd need to either incorporate the pistol mag baseplate into the design or re-design the baseplate altogether.

It would be a fair amount of work either way.

Just going to give this thread a bump. Maybe as we approach the cold "inside projects" winter weather, someone may be able to design a 3D printer file

I came up with a quick design. It is a little thicker then I would of liked but because of the mag base width and to have clearance for the mag release it is what it is. Still looks better then the small mags.
The different brands of magazines also have different sizes of baseplates. I don't have all my 92-9mm mags on hand but have a metal baseplate mag and a mec-gar mag. The clamshell is designed to fit both, but the metal baseplate mag needs a spacer to fill the void (see last pic).
Let me know what you think and I will upload the files to Thingiverse when I get a chance.

I'm quite impressed! I have no idea what it takes to render/design something like that, but I'm stoked you did. Coincidentally I noticed on FB the other day a local guy advertising he'll do 3D printing so I can hopefully farm that out to him
