I'm looking for a 22 over 410 or 20ga....considering an older savage 24 or a new double badger

any comments on the double badger? anybody own one? the reviews online are highly mixed, but seem to lead towards crap...thinking I'd be better off with a used savage 24

You probably know it, but there is the 42, as well. Yep, I know. Fugly.

24s are hard to get parts for and when you find them they are expensive. This is based on 2 friends' experiences with them. Otherwise very nice guns.

If it's any help, my 12yr old daughter likes her Double Badger. Both barrels shoot to point of aim for her. Accuracy wise, it likes Winchester Dynapoints in particular (she has the .22Mag version). Simple and it works. One thing though, I had to back the action screw out a bit as breaking and closing required considerable effort on my part, and was impossible for her. Now she can do it on her own.

fugly and I'm reading a lot of issues about them as well, poor sights and firing pin on the shotshell

don't get to do much shopping where I live, usually online orders, but I'll be in the city this weekend and hopefully get to handle something

Want this as a fun gun and also convenience gun when I'm just hiking or camping with my dogs, not actively hunting, but still nice to get a grouse or rabbit if we see one

I like my Double Badger, I would not spend more for the new Savage 42. If I could find an older Savage for the right price I would jump on it.

I replaced my Savage 42 with a Double Badger, they are both nice but I prefer the sights on the badger and the way the double badger folds in half.
