I just ordered a Little Badger for a pack gun as my Henry Survival Rifle is too bulky. I plan on doing some mods to it such as sight replacement, trigger job, accessories pouch, sling studs, thread protector for starters. After a bit of searching on-line I came across the below mod project... and all l have to say is WOW. Thought I would share.... enjoy.

I ordered one as well in 22 wmr. I am going to replace all the side and lower rails with thin pieces of blonde Oak. and a metal thread protector to replace the fragile plastic one that comes with the gun. A low profile Walther red dot 30mm sight on the top rail.Ordered some dark red para-cord to wrap the rear rail and am mounting a 4 inch knife into the rail as well.Sewing in a small canvas ammo pouch behind the knife. We have to do a picture thread after our crazy Badger projects are complete

Looking forward to receiving mine and doing my mods. Going to reform the stock slightly downward also so the barrel makes contact with the stock when folded closed for a smaller folded footprint.

Awesome! Got some ideas percolating now!

I kept mine fairly simple. I added a Bushnell red dot and mounted an ESEE Izula on the stock.
I found a pouch that would slip onto the knife handle that has a few survival items, some extra ammo and spare batteries for the red dot.
I just need to get a new thread protector and I should be done. Although I've been thinking about replacing the side and bottom rails with some black canvas micarta.

Best little pack/survival rifle I've ever owned and fits perfectly in the hydration pocket of my backpack. Perfect for getting a few grouse or rabbits of opportunity while big game hunting.

Great idea with the izula... perfect knife/sheath with that setup.

Great thread. I think I know what I'm going to suggest for a Father's Day present. Quick question for Orion or anyone that can comment: how's that Bushnell red dot? How is overall accuracy compared to the stock irons?

I find the accuracy much better with the red dot. The front sight is polymer and is held in place with an Allen set screw. It doesn't take a lot to knock it out of alignment (at least on mine). The blade is quite thick too. It'd be nice if you could get an aftermarket steel front sight for these.

The only thing I don't like about that particular red dot (Bushnell First Strike) is that Bushnell didn't put an on/off switch on it. The sight turns on when you remove the cover and turns off when you reinstall it so if you lose the cover you're hooped unless you stick some tape over the sensor. Other than that it's a great little sight. The brightness is self regulating and I've never had any difficulty seeing the dot even in bright sunlight reflecting off snow.

If you're thinking about doing this check out the ESEE Candiru. It's a bit smaller than the Izula and the sheath fits inside the wire stock just like it was made for it.
I went with the Izula only because it has a larger blade.

Thanks for the info. I already have an izula so I'll use it.. like you I prefer the izula blade length.

Does anyone know where in Canada you can buy the Kensight M1 Carbine rear aperture sight? Apparently it is a great steel replacement sight for the cheap plastic one that comes on it.
