I picked up a used wood stock m1 9mm, it seems to be pretty reliable so far(probably less than 100 rds).
I believe the last owner got rid of it because of accuracy/rear sight issues, as the sight was loose when I got it. I tightened the grub screw down and loctited it, but the actual aperture moves in the sight housing.
I got about a 12" wide group at 50 yds today. What kind of accuracy do these things get? Does a real m1 carbine sight fit in it? I'd like to hear from anyone who has dealt with this.

My rear sight was also loose so I staked it. The internals are pretty tight.
I plink at different sand pits out to 200yds just for fun

Mine was loose when I got it. The aperture would move up and down the incline under recoil. I ended up staking it in the middle position. Seems accurate enough to hit pop cans at 25 yards and an 8" plate at 75 yards which is good enough for me

So it turns out the barrel is loose in this fine quality firearm. I can rotate it a degree or two in either direction in the receiver. Some work is required, but I still don't regret buying it. I knew what I was getting into.

My rear sight slid off the dovetail after 150 rounds, I tightened the little set screw and it just fell off again. I fixed it by drilling a hole on top of the dovetail where the set screw was pressing, then tapping that hole for 6-32. On the sight itself, move the aperture over to the side and counterbore the hole where the set screw went through. Then I had to shave the top of a socket head cap screw down to fit flush into the bottom of the sight so you can slide the aperture back over top of it. I had it at the range on the weekend and was able to put a mag into 5" at 50 yards
