I have a very unusual problem with a Chiappa M92 carbine .44 magnum. The barrel has become loose in the receiver. It is about four years old, has been fired less than 200 times. Mostly Federal and Fiocci 240 gr. Factory loads. There is nothing remarkable about the gun, a case colour receiver, standard 20" round barrel carbine. If the fore end and receiver are gripped and twisted, the barrel will move approx. 1mm either way. It is also possible to feel it flop very slightly up and down or side to side. No wonder accuracy was disappointing! Chamber, bore, and working parts all seem normal. Sights are still at 12 o'clock, not tilted. So I don't think it unscrewed. I brought it back to the retailer as instructed by the manufacturer, and am awaiting assessment by the distributor. Warranty is stated in the book as 1 year. Any comments?

If they don't simply replace it... the easiest will be to add blue Loctite to the threads and upset the shoulder slightly so the barrel will appear tight when the sights are square to the action... let it sit 24 hours before shooting.

To report back on this little misadventure, the retailer, North Pro Sports in Saskatoon, and the Chiappa distributor took care of the problem. Fairly quickly I might add. No fuss, very little bother. Rifle was shipped off, fixed, and returned to me at no charge even though it was officially out of warranty. I'm a happy customer.
