Well I pulled a boner.
Bought a Chiappa Plinkerton for a fantastic price BUT it was locked up TIGHT. Was going to use it for the CRFSC course so didn't have to be perfect.
Well today was "fix the revolver" day.
Tore it apart and got it unstuck. Got it to #### and click 6 times then it locked up again.
Well long story short took it apart and got looking at the cylinder lock and it was bent a bit. Straightened it out a bit and had a look. Needed a titch more and SNAP broke the F@#$ing thing.
Can find them in the US but no one will ship here.
Does anyone know who might have one or be able to get me one in Canada?
 
Those sort of parts seldom drop in. So you'd be looking at modifying the spring finger and even the height of the stop bolt itself to set up the timing of your particular gun. Now maybe you can do that thanks to the information out there. Now I know that Rusty Wood has a big box of parts for a wide array of these style guns. And he was able to dig through with my old part and find a new different brand oversize bolt for me. From there I had to fit it to my gun. I was able to get close to the right shape by using measurements from the old broken one. Then I test fitted it and stoned and polished until it mated up and provided the proper timing. A fussy job as it required a good dozen assemblies and tear downs to get it right.

But to do that he would need your old stop pieces to match up to the new one. And it WILL need to be fitted and the ramp on the spring hook ground and polished to match up the correct timing. And the thing is that this applies to even a Chiappa branded part. Hopefully a Chiappa stop bolt would simply need a little less fitting.

All in all if you're not happy with the idea of doing such work then it may be that you should send the gun off to a good smith that knows their Colt clone guns well. Such as Rusty....
 
I found one through the Chiappa repair folks so am going to give it a whirl.
$100 for the gun and the $12 for the new part if I can't fix it myself it will be cheaper just to buy a new one.
I'm pretty handy with my tools and patient as they get.
It doesn't have to be perfect just close enough as it will be disabled to teach the CRFSC.
 
Well I AM the biggest moron on the planet.
Got the new part from Murray Charlton Ent. and when I put it back together it works a few times and then jams again. Take it all apart and a little piece is laying in the frame again.
Long story short. Put little stud back into the side of the hammer with the help of some JB Weld (it looks like it had been peened in before but could tell that bit had sheered off) reassemble and AWAY WE GO.
Lesson learned? DON'T TRY AND BEND SH!T THAT PROBABLY ISN'T CROOKED IN THE FIRST PLACE.
