A few questions:
As I finally have money now, I'm going to be buying my Remington 700 soon and am planning on competing next year. I have a question about dress and that though; in many of the pictures I've seen I've seen people wear full CADPAT and I'm pretty sure I saw someone wearing the CScotR headdress. Now normally I'm not allowed to wear my uniform off duty, but what are the rules regarding this match and service rifle matches?

Cool how long you been in?Feel free to post in hours or even minutes if you feel the need...;)

To wear your uniform you have to get permission. But it's usually not a problem as long as your not a numpty. We did have a C Scot at the sniper match.Last name B _ _ _ wood, W,Cpl.Find him and get a team started.

1949 hours and 23 minutes ;). I've been in since May (I know, not long, but you gotta start somewhere), and I'm supposed to be at training but they pulled me off course (and 3 other guys) because of an admin error where they sent us on course but didn't check that we were actually course loaded, so I've just been working at the base for the time being.
A Cpl. in our unit was looking at getting a shooting team started and having it funded by the CScotR, and I'm all for that idea; I'm gonna see who's interested in September when we start doing regular parading again.

I'm not sure who the Cpl. is that you're talking about, he might be in our unit or somewhere else on the island, but I'm sure I won't have a problem finding a shooting partner; a lot of guys in our unit are excellent shots and quite interested in shooting (most do service rifle though). We can wear our uniforms to service rifle matches so I doubt there'd be any problem with this.

Honestly I don't know of any C Scots who shoot service rifle. Not BCRA SR at least anyways.Last year I shot SR over there in Naniamo and I think 2 guys showed.Pretty sad for the only infantry unit on the island really.Anyways you guys should get your #### together and come over to the SR championships first weekend of June. That's where we'll see who can shoot and who can't :)

I know a few of the guys are interested in shooting, but I'm not sure how many actually shoot with the BCRA. When we (out unit) shoots service rifle, I think we do it mainly with other units and exclusively use issued C7's and issued ammo, so there aren't any equipment advantages. We're gonna try and get more guys to come out; I know there're a few guys who I was supposed to be on course with who were quite interested in shooting, especially one guy who was planning on building an M40A1 or A3 who already had the McMillan stock, barrel and other parts to the rifle, and shot a ton beforehand, so I'm sure he wouldn't need convincing to come out and shoot.

I'll talk to some of the guys there about getting a shooting team started, and I'll see if I can find a few guys interested in BCRA service/precision rifle.

Well there is nothing wrong with C7's nor IVI ammo. Both have done me well.

Thats because of the unfair advantage you have with the "Green Bastard".Also, We are so in awe of your Stargate appearance, that we forget how to shoot and you kick our butts.;) :p :p ;) :D :D :D

Ok I can understand the Stargate appearance.....that's enough to make anyone forget what they were doing....but the Green Bastard is just a stock AR.No bells or whistles. Not free floated or anything else.I think the trigger is about 14 lbs ;)

Haha, I've heard many things about that rifle...doesn't sound natural to me...

So what about CADPAT? Do any of you guys ever wear some sort of camo to the precision match? I'm not really sure what the point is of it, not like it really serves any purpose, but it could be a way to represent my regiment and just makes things more exciting I guess.

I wear Camo BDUs as I find them comfortable and easy to shoot in.

Depending on how I feel, I will choose from the following:
-TW CADPAT
-Woodlands MARPAT
-Desert MARPAT
-Woodlands
-Tri Color Desert
-Six color (Chocolate Chip) Desert

Your only concern would be getting permission to wear your uniform to a non CF function.

I don't think they'd mind, I'll check though. I wear my CADPAT pants while hiking and stuff because they breathe, are flexible, comfortable, and extremely durable.

Wearing CADPAT anywhere without permission or being on duty is NOT allowed.Even hiking. But then again you can just tell people that you are a wannabe and avoid all the scrutiny...unless its someone you know. Then you're ####ed.

True. I only wear it fairly deep in the bush where there are few people, because the CF's main concern is that it raises suspicion and attracts unnecessary attention. I probably won't do it anymore though as it isn't really allowed, but I do use discretion. It's actually quite annoying (I'm referring to when on duty, but out in public) when EVERYONE looks at you, tries to salute you and thinks you know everything.

Suspicion of what?Attention maybe so.They just don't want you to do anything stupid while you are wearing it.Eventually you will learn how to eliminate people saluting you with a simple dirty look.People think that just because you are in uniform means that you can't sort people out.Not true.

I thought it would be a honor to be saluted by us civies? the only reason I've never done it is cuz I think I'd screw it up somehow (or look lame).

Saluting is to show respect to an officers commision by the queen or to the flag.Saluting a non com is like waving to a guy with no arms. He could care less, you aren't gonna get one back...and he's gonna think your an idiot.
