So if you buy Chinese non corrosive ammo made in the 90's in sealed metal spam cans, keep dry, how long will it last?

Or do you buy newer manufactured ammo loose, and store it in sealed airtight poly ammo cases?

Which is better, and what will last longer?

Thanks

If spam cans are stored properly, I believe they should last longer than you. Powder may break down or turn bad eventually, not sure how long.

I have 1938 dates 8x58R ammo that still doesn't seem to have any misfires. To be frank if stored correctly most ammo should have a indefinite lifespan. Obvious water damage is the main enemy of ammo.

That ammo has more aluminum in the brass mix than copper. It will be brittle faster than copper prevalent brass. It will be still ok to fire, but reloading aspect of it will diminish the older the brass gets.
As long as the spam can is sealed, it will last long time.

Inspect the can if it has green paint around seam where you open it, it's indicator that even before surplussing this ammo. This was inspected for spam rust and if they already done one painting., second coat will not help.
That's why they surplussed it
