Has anyone fired the latest batch of Chinese 7.62x54R ? I see Marstar and Canada Ammo now stock it. Any comparisons? any idea of what vintage it is?

Seems like a pretty good price if it shoots well.
 
I bought a box of the Chinese stuff re-packaged by S&B from SFRC a bit back. Have only run a little of it through my Mosin. I have nothing to compare it against, but I was pretty happy with the combination of rifle and ammo. No issues at all with it. All of it fired first go, no extraction issues. FWIW.
 
Same ran some of the stuff from SFRC through my M44, seemed to work as good as you can expect for surplus, another buddy of mine ran it through his SVT40 and also worked good.

Im waitin for some from Canada ammo...And bought some on the EE that i pretty sure is the same stuff..had no issues with it at all..stuff i used was 1967
Was bulk rounds loose in a green box
oh it worked about the same as the silver tipped stuff i got from westrifle last year .... in Both the mosin and the svt40

My only regret is not buyin 2 cases;)

It's corrosive for sure.

I've shot around 90 rounds in my Mosin 91/30. No issues.

I've heard people having issues with the SVT40, but that could be gas setting issues or other gun issues.

I definitely had to play around with my gas-settings to get it to cycle properly on the SVT, 1.4 worked well, but then I have to turn it down to 1.2 for my 210 gr. SP's :p

I've shot half a crate of it already with no failures at all.

Our experience has been exactly the same and no issues at all.This ammo grouped pretty well in my son's Mosin the first time we tried it out,will definitely be buying more soon.
 
Had a spam can of this stuff and through my mosin it was... acceptable. 1/10 had split and had one or 2 misfires from the can. BUUUTTTT... my brother was using the same batch through his SVT and it did not perform anywhere near great. He also had not perfectly tuned the gas settings yet but it would not cycle and more than a handful of misfires. The mosins have a nice habit of eating up anything you put in them though..
 
Do you want more of this silver tip? There is going to be more available on the market in 2-3 weeks. I guarantee it. There is importer who brought few containers in already.
