I'm wondering how common firearms from the Chinese Civil War are. Pretty much any WWII or immediate post war era firearm is in this category if it was captured or made under licence. Does anyone have any lines on who might be selling them?

The Communist Chinese used whatever they picked up. The Nationalist Chinese used whatever they picked up. Every weapons supplier in Europe tried to see guns to anyone in China who had money from the beginning of the 20th Century onwards. There are Chinese copies of Mauser rifles. There are genuine German Mauser Broomhandle pistols. Canada made 7.92mm BREN guns and 9mm Browing HP pistols specifically for the Nationalists during WWII, likely to make use of abundant ammunition supplies..
So how does one tell if a rifle was picked up by a certain faction? Were they stamped if they were battlefield pick-ups? Were they stamped if they were chinese copies or imports?
Japanese weapons were widely used by the Reds. There's a Mukden produced T38 carbine on the milsurp EE right now which probably saw use during that period.
I've got a Chinese made K98 that included the name of the soldier, written in chinese, on a piece of paper that was found under the rear sight. Cool! There are supposed to be lots of Chinese civil war guns about in Canada, but all that I've seen are rough. Really rough. They're not worth much either, because the bores are usually useless, but they are terrific pieces of history IMHO. Especially if you have an interest in the area, which I do.
