chinese CQ 5.56 m4? are they good?

Try the search, or manually search for pre-existing threads (a few pages back). There's been a dozen or so regarding the Norinco CQ556. Here's one that should help answer your questions:

I honestly wouldn't know since I only own a higher-end AR variant. Though, I was as curious as you as some day I may invest in the cheaper Chinese AR carbine, but currently most my firearm funds is going towards my SDI XR15 subcarbine.

It is, at best my knowledge, the least expensive way to get into the AR-15 game in Canada.

The general consensus seems to be that they are reliable and accurate enough out of the box, but you might want to work on the trigger a little bit and the finish can be a bit sub-par on certain parts. Nothing you can't fix.

Mines fine, no failures of any kind and shoots into 2 inches at 100 yards. Also they have a few features that are no longer exportable from the US. Generally they're pretty well executed where it counts (carrier keys done right, FA BCG, chrome lined barrels etc.)

Good value, shoots well, looks cool with 14.5" barrel. But my Colt ar15 hbar still feels/shoots much better than my Norinco M4. Of course more $$$ paid for the Colt.

love it. even though I am going to be upgrading in a short while, i will be keeping mine as a shooter for sure. about 2" groups @ 100yds. for the price, and flawless functioning couldnt ask for more. not a jam, misfire or anything at all. Just tons of fun:D

I just got mine today ! All I can speak on was the finish, not so much function just yet ! And I'm pleased ! it looks good not stag arms good, but good ! I'm very happy with it so far !

So long as you don't mind the infamous "MADE IN CHINA" stamp on the gun it's a great value. :)

Where does it say "made in china"?... Mine does not... What is stamped on the receiver is "CQ-A-1 5.56mm, & the serial #"...

Overall, I'm impressed with this little rifle! Great value for the money!!!

Cheers

I don't mean that it's literally stamped, only that it's Chinese-made. :p

If you don,t buy anything made in china you must be naked standing in an empty room staring at the wall were a tv should be.

Oh half the sh!t in my house is Chinese. ;) I may buy a cheap Chinese pistol down the line for sh!ts and giggles but apart from that I just don't trust them with some things.
