sold a buddy a beater Norinco 37 12ga clone project gun and it's missing the left side cartridge stop. Does anyone know if there are any incompatibility issues with respect to vintage and clone/non-clone parts before I try to find one? Thanks in advance

Quick internet check revealed that most parts do not interchange. Guys have been able to get the butt stocks to change how ever. Most parts issue is the Chinese 37 has double action bars and the original Ithaca 37 has one. This spec change apparently changed a lot of the internal parts also. Does the Chinese gun even have a left stop due to the double action bars?

Great info Darryl! There may not be a problem! There's a smooth hole there and one youtube I noticed showed that hole full but I don't think it was a clone he was working on. Proof will be in the pudding, he'll try snap caps soon. Thanks

I have one. I just checked. If you mean the two bars that drop down to stop the cartridge when the bolt is drawn back, mine has two.

We are talking about the action bars attached to the fore end to pump the action. The part you have referred to is known as the carrier or "fork". K John is yours the YL 12 Chinese copy? If so you can solve this puzzle.
