Chinese "Military" SKS With No Arsenal Markings?

Hey guys,

I just received a Chinese SKS from Marstar (advertised as a "military" SKS) and it's in excellent condition, far better than my Russian. However, although it has matching serial numbers as promised, I can't manage to find any arsenal markings whatsoever on it. I've checked out some other forums and came across some mention of this happening to "recent manufacture commercial rifles," but I've also read of the Chinese scrubbing the arsenal markings off for export. The paint on it looks nearly brand new so perhaps the second story is more likely. I was expecting something along the lines of what Yooper John posts on this page

I'm sure some of you have ordered the same rifle, any ideas on this?

Most of them I've seen have a factory 625 mark just in front of the serial number. I have two of them and have cleaned up several others. Don't spend too much time or effort reading into the markings, it doesn't mean much.

Check out the following link. These pic are from a bunch of chinese SKS"s that surfaced just before Marstar got their shipment, which I believe are the same.

FWIW, the one I just received has the same "triangle 26" or "Factory 26" marking in front of the receiver serial number as is shown here:

Quality, fit and finish is much better than "civilian Norinco" SKS's I have seen. As Romulus said, quality appears much better than the Russian - certainly as good as. Mine has the spike bayonet.

I've not attempted any other identification as yet, using the manufacturing variations shown in Curtton's Chinese SKS type 56 ID FAQ.

and as for a pic, there's nothing to take a pic of! Everything is completely blank aside from the serial numbers. There aren't even any of the usual interesting anomalies I usually see on an SKS, but granted I haven't personally held many Chinese ones before.

There isn't a factory triangle?

My chinese military sks I sold just had the serial number and the factory triangle.

uh-oh??? is the barrel pinned to the receiver?.....civy norc?

I was afraid of that but I was assured that it was not a Norinco or a Polytech, and it does have a screwin barrel. However the gun is in exceptionally good condition...almost looks "too" nice. I find it unlikely they would sell civilian brands after marketing it exclusively as "military"
- and I might just be paranoid/neurotic - but thought I'd ask around a bit. At best I'm hearing stories that it's from another factory besides 26.

And sorry for bumpin this thread, as usual after some roaming around on other boards I can see it was asked once or twice in one form or another. Looks like I might need to start taking finger print swabs and tracking employees from each factory back in China to determine the origin. :p

My daughter has a Chinese SKS that has no markings other than the serial #. It is in very good condition, has a screwed barrel, stamped trigger group.
It has no factory markings at all. But here's the point. She paid $125 for this thing. A 7.62 semi-auto carbine. How sweet is that? In the end, who cares about it's pedigree at that price.
You got a good piece for your dollar.
