I've owned several Chinese SKS's, but they all have bright bolt and carrier. So I was supprised when I got this one, it has a chromed bolt and carrier(I thought it's parkerized until CanAm corrected me, thanks.), and on the rear sight, the number on the bottom looks like 'n' (Someone said it's a Russian character) instead of '3' like my other Chinese SKS's. I was told this is an early production, at that time they used some Russian parts to assemble their SKS's, but I'm not sure. Here are the pics.

not a norc but a nice early chinese SKS, probably built in late 60s or 70s.

you are missing one important pic and thats of the serial number on the left side of receiver .

yes, the "n" is russian , translate to a english P but i doubt there is any russian parts in your rifle , they been long used up .

wood looks nice and new .

I guess 1965 is the year they change barrel collars types. Mines a /26\ 902###X with a long barrel collar and blade bayo. Its the only Chinese SKS I have that is the same quality as my Russians

i have a 1965 also 913###X , it came with long barrel collar but i always believed they switched to short barrel collar sometime in 1966

imbanes rifle proves not, unless they replace the barrel at a later time .

agreed , my 1965 is as well built as the russian , except for the wood .

Hmmm....looking at your pics and then looking at my 3 SKS`s more closely ,it would appear all are similar to yours ,diff. ser. numbers of course. That`s interesting !
Thanks for posting that.
