Saw this rifle hanging on the wall at a range in Cambodia,,,

I had no idea wtf it was but it looked like an sks at 1st glance,,and the employees at the range called it an sks,,or ckc(what a lot of Viets n Cambodians call the sks).

So i grabbed it and took some pics,,

Its made at the famous factory 26

Anyone ever see any of these before in Canada?

Apparently most were made in select fire,,so full auto fun if you wanted to.

After a bit of digging,,I learned that its a Type63 :)

It isn't a full auto SKS.
It is styled so that it resembles one, but mechanically it is quite different.
Its mechanism is more like an AK, with a rotating bolt.
Any in this country would be prohibited 12-2 or 12-3. Don't know if any made it in or not.

The Type 63 was a fail attempt to make a successor over the Type 56 SKS. Its obvious the Chinese favored the SKS over the AK but they did realize the advantage of having full automatic capabilities. Type 63 was very low production due to it being very unreliable. The Type 63 is also very loosely related to the SKS. Its like how the Vz 58 looks like an AK but its not an AK. Later the Type 81 succeeded over the Type 56 SKS just in time for the Sino-Vietnamese border conflicts.

china haven't fought in 25 years when they crossed the border in 1979 . they learnt a lot going up against the battle harden Vietnamese, they learnt their battle strategies and equipment were obsolete .
