As I read several threads where threads are different for some parts. I am looking to change Gas Cylinder Plug with piston, should that be ok or not?

Also, what about changing mag release and bolt release?

Chinese use metric and the yanks use standard/imperial. They might start on each other but you could end up damaging the softer metal. I assume we are talking about an m14/305. Not sure what you want to do with the gas system. It already has a gas piston so I assume you want to put an adjustable gas system on it? I'm still new to the platform and I came across this mod. I just did a private clinic with hungry and from what he ,if its a norinco, beyond the spring guide and a better stock, just shoot it. The bolt release is kinda cool. He had one on his and it was pretty sweet. Not sure how much better the GI mag release will work than stock

And unitize the gas system. Honestly, if you are in Ontario, go see hungry before you do anything. Bring him some wine and learn something. Not only is he a wealth of knowledge, he's also f'n funny. It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be

Pistons are different size , chinese vs usgi/M1A . "Some" guys have put gi/m1A pistons in chinese cylinders but generally NOT interchangeable

Gas cylinder plug threads are not the same as GI/M1a . You Must use chinese plug for chinese cylinder.

Mag release_ USGI and m1A mag release pins and holes are smaller than chinese,(or maybe it's the other way round...) so is the hole in the mag release. Sadlak sells a mag release and pin for chinese trigger groups

Bolt release/stop, again USGI/ smith enterprise ect have a smaller diameter bolt stop pin. To fit these items to chinese receivers correctly you need to lap the chinese pin into the part.

So nope, it's not all just "swappable".

thnx guys, I got Sadlak gas plug drill that does not work on one of my m305 gas plug, drill just does not fit in the plug.
