have a look at the henry mini-bolt as well. comes in synthetic/stainless and is lighter than the chipmunk laminate and comes with the fibreoptic front and rear sights. My little guy just loves his.

Years ago i bought my son a Chipmunk . Great little rifle but what a headache when it came time to register guns . They told me it was a prohibited firearm , could not be registered and must be turned in . Took about 6 months to get that cleared up and it was only after one of the fellows here gave me the FRT# . My son took a ton of rabbits with his prohibited , bolt action , single shot .22 rifle . If you don't know #### from tar , apply for a job at the CFC , cause you're qualified .

Yeah... * * * I've heard similar story and went for Savage Cub for my kid. Other reason I see the Cub is the better option - all things are real (safety, bolt operations, AccuTrigger) and once I teach him how to handle Cub I won't have to teach him again for big guns. Sorry for pulling up an old post...
