About 8 months ago I bought a Savage Axis package rifle, I suspected going in that the scope would be the weak link going in, but this is one I never expcted. One of the internal lenses chipped. It gives me the excuse I need to upgrade my optics anyway. My questions are:
1: has anyone seen this before?
2: on a budget of 2-400 what would you all recomend as a reasonable replacement
3: do you think bushnell would warantee this

Indeed

About 8 months ago I bought a Savage Axis package rifle, I suspected going in that the scope would be the weak link going in, but this is one I never expcted. One of the internal lenses chipped. It gives me the excuse I need to upgrade my optics anyway. My questions are:
1: has anyone seen this before?
nope, probably a manufacture defect, imperfection when they made the lens
2: on a budget of 2-400 what would you all recommend as a reasonable replacement
What are you looking for, more clarity, better reticle, further reach, etc. There is a point where your rifle will limit your scope
3: do you think bushnell would warantee this
yes, they offer 1 year manufacturer warranty against defects. If your lens is perfect other than the chip, its easy to make the case that it came like that.

More to this scope question than I thought. Ideally better clarity, and fov, more magnification would be nice. The current scope is a 3-9x40, I would like a 4 -12x50 if it would fit might mean new higher rings. As far as reticles go I think I need an education here as I am only familiar with whatever is in your standard scope and mil dot. So please fill me in. I'd say lets pretend I know little to nothing but it wouldn't be pretending.

I had on my axis .223 a Mueller APV, 4.5-14x magnification worked great! however its a duplex reticle. The mueller APT looks like it would fit perfectly. same magnification, but target turrets, mildot, and sunshade included for $250 from phil at whitefalls. A great deal in my opinion, I plan on ordering one soon. My apv is great, good quality and clarity, and the AO will focus from under 10 yards to 300 and infinity. definitely recommend these, worth a look for sure!
