Choate SKS mt

Any idea where to find in Canada? Would one need to to do a ejection port mod or shell deflector? Eyes need scope. I realize SKS accuracy limitations.Perhaps a red-dot?

Keep an eye out for the Promag version as well, it's fairly similar to the Choate. I got mine from Canadaammo a while back, but they appear to be out of stock.

That's the one! I'm pretty happy with mine, it's nice and solid.

I have a Choate and it works fine, but I would like to change it with a Promag full rail mount. Does anyone know if the mounting holes are in the same spot on both mounts, so it would be a direct bolt on.

Is the Promag made in Canada? If so I'll have two Choate mounts going on the EE, asap! Buy all you can, "made in Canada" that way maybe more business, might start making more accessories for our toys.

Any gunsmith or semi competent person can mill in new notches on the Choate mount so it has a full rail on it. I am waiting for my para sks with choate mount to come back from the gunsmith- I am going with the bushnell trs 25, but may later go with a compact scope. I wish I had mounted the promag now that I have seen it! Damn. Oh well, the Choate mount is a good mount....

By the way can the rifle still be taken down for cleaning without mt removal? ie: slide cover clears? Instructions included for mounting etc.......Thanx Harold

There's a good installation video floating around the Red Rifles section somewhere. I recall a single sheet of paper instructions in mine, not overly detailed with measurements IIRC.

Correct, take down is no prob & see thru for the iron sights as well.
