Hi,
Hoping you can enlighten me.
Can you shoot rifled slugs down a smooth barrel? I’m assuming yes.
If so, what about with an IC choke?
Last question, can you get a “cylinder” choke tube, in other words an interchangeable choke with the least or no constriction? (To, in my case, replace the IC with a cylinder choke)
Hope that makes sense!?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, rifled slugs through a smoothbore is fine. You’ll have to try the different chokes to see which one is most consistent. I found an IC choke was best with one of my shotguns and Mod was better in another. You’ll have to shoot some groups to determine what ammo/choke combo provides the tightest and most consistent groups

In order, yes, yes and yes. The qualification on the last being if your shotgun has replaceable chokes and if there is one available.

Smooth barrel + slugs = good to go

Cylinder choke + slugs = good to go

Improved Cylinder + choke = good to go, but that's usually the limit before starting to wreck the muzzle.

Cylinder chokes are available for most thread types. Yes rifled slugs can be fired thru smooth bores. As mentioned you must try them with various chokes. Ive found some to shoot well in everything from cylinder choke to full choke.

Thank you all very much!
The owners manual has a section warning about steel shot through full and IM choke, but didn’t say anything about slugs.
You guys rock. Thanks again.

I’ve shot them out of , just about everything...from full choke( old Browning auto 5 ) to cylinder bore...never tried on a removable choke setup. Might make it hard to remove the chokes? Shot a lot of deer, with a full choke, and slugs...my first deer hunting gun...old Browning auto 5 Magnum full choke barrel.
