choke for slug

All brands and weights of slugs shoot differently in all guns and chokes. You may get good results, or you may not. If your choke is not interchangeable, try a different brand or weight. Bottom line, you have to try them in YOUR gun. I've had two Rem 870s side by side, that would not shoot the same with the same slug.

i hear ya, just don't want it to be too tight out of the box and do damage. i'm shooting an 11-87 with screw in chokes but have not shot a slug through it. i'll be using challengers, shot great out of my winchester semi just couldn't remember if it was improved that i used.

I doubt you would damage anything regardless of choke. Slugs are undersized from the diameter of the barrel/choke, and come out of the barrel in a shot sleeve or wad that can take some compression when exiting. many shotguns have a fixed full choke and have no problem shooting slugs. The worst results you will most likely find are poor groupings with a particular make of slug.

I shoot rifled slugs through my 20ga side by side, one choke is IC other is MOD. At 50m they will group around 10 inch good enough to get a deer in the bush. I expirienced no ill efects to the gun

In my M4 and a modified choke i get 4 inchs group with Rem 3 inchs 7/8 ounces rifle slugs @ 1900 fps, very deadly combo... JP.
