choke measurements?

I have a 14" Remington factory barrel. I found a tiny little stamp that says 'mod'. What should it measure out to with calipers if it is modified, improved, cylinder etc. I can't find a chart of what the approximate measurements should be

0.710" for Mod.

But, choke is a constriction from bore diameter.
~ A "modified" choke is 0.019" constriction.
~ 12ga bore diameter is supposed to be 0.729", but many bores vary.
--- .729 minus .019 equals 0.710"

very interesting. Haven't fired it yet. Is this normal for 14" rem barrels? I don't think the Dlask or chinese barrels are choked are they?

My only concern is slugs. I know most factory load slugs are designed to deform to fit through chokes, but its probably not ideal

i just finished measuring a remington 14 inch barrel marked cylinder and it is .720 in recent years there has been a realization by the police forces that a cylinder choked gun may not hold the pattern tight enough to keep pellets on target and they have been ordering modified chokes .the answer is yes this is normal but was not the norm in the past .some dlask barrels are threaded for chokes and some are not .your barrel will handle slugs just fine as is just try several brands till you find one it likes . .

From what I have read, modified or improved mod chokes often prove the most accurate with slugs. Shoot away without concern.
