Polished up my OU today, for a dove hunt.
Swapping chokes out I started digging through my choke bin. Some of my Remington chokes say steel on them..
Wondering if I am ok to run steel 7s through my SKB even though they dont mention steel.
I ended up puttinng it down and opting for another gun.
So question being, can I run steel through any modern choke, or are they dedicated?

I shoot a Weatherby Orion O/U that I think was made in the late 80's by SKB in Japan. It takes the origininal Browning Invector chokes. Not sure if this is the same choke system as yours but my chokes all have the browning label on them but may not be original to the gun. The Skeet, IC, and Modified chokes are labelled one constriction tighter for steel (SK Lead=IC Steel, IC=M, M=F). The Full choke says lead only. I am not an expert but everything I have ever read says no Full choke with steel shot but everything from modified to skeet should be good to go, particularily when it comes to guns with removeable chokes. Some companies dont reccomend steel shot bigger than BB but since your talking #7 you should be fine. Some guys will even tell you it would be fine through a full choke but I wouldnt personally. Hope this helps.
