I am looking to purchase a "skeet" tube for A400 Excel. I have been on the Briley, Carlson websites and also eBay. Starting to get confused. Some are ported, some are extended, different finishes etc. Looking at reviews on the net and most are from the same manufacturer. Suggestions? Anyone steer me in the right direction?

Did one come with your gun? If so use it. If not I'd suggest an extended choke as they are easier to change. Ported chokes are a waste of money. Choose whatever finish appeals to you. Some guys don't like the look of a silver choke sticking out of a blued barrel others don't care.

Another avoid ported tubes. They are a PITA to clean.

From there, I don't know that there really is a correct answer. The same choke tube can 'perform' differently gun to gun and ammo to ammo...

Someone will tell you brand X is the only way to go. Someone else will say brand Y.

If it was me, I'd look for something that looks cool. I like Briley extended. I would probably go with whatever I could get at the best deal.

Brad.

I use extended brileys in my beretta and benelli..skeet 1 and 2's..also Briley Black Cloud's excellent choke tubes..pattern real well...

I've always had good luck and service from Briley.

But when you are talking skeet distances, and unless you are working keeping your average at .9979

An 870 with the end of the barrel hacked off with a hack saw, will provide an ample pattern to hit a clay at 21-25 yards.

20 yards is still pretty close, difference between chokes will mean little to us commoners.

To Bender or Giambrone, then yes it might matter, but from what Todd told me personally, they are all pretty good, pick who's the easiest to deal with.
