Just bought a mossberg 935 has a accu-mag choke system
the gun came with the ulti-full turkey choke lead shot only
Would anyone know the choke dia.??? or if I"d be ok to fire #4 buckshot without any damage to the gun???

I can't seem to find any info on the choke dia.
just the mossberg site says not to fire any large shot though the turkey chokes.

I have read that lots of guys are using .660 dia good success with #4 buck.
don't want to buy another choke but don't want a safety or damage issue either so I will if necessay!!!

been on all the sites Carlson, Kicks etc...So many to choose...heads spinning
Thanks in advance

No buckshot is illegal for trukey in Ont. #4,5,6 shot size only for gobblers. Was that a test?? LOL :) Wile E coyote is the intention for the #4buck!!!!!!!

I was just thinking that the ulti-full turkey might be to tight and blow out the pattern or worse damage my new gun or choke!!!

Nope #4,5,6 shot sizes only for turkey in Ontario!!! Was that a test? LOL :)
Wile E coyote is the intended target for the #4 buck!!!!

just want to be sure there won't be any damage to the firearm or choke. If I fire some buckshot down the pipe. I can"t find the choke dia. posted anywhere!

No... no test.... to be honest, I was unaware of that restriction... my bird course was a long time ago...lol... To be hinest with turkey I just buy the ines with a turkey on the box and use 'em.... lol... successfully at least......lol

anyways, you can shoot whatever you want out of any choke... and if I was about to use a shotgun for yote hunting I would use my turkey choke.... no worries.... you could shoot slugs out of it and be fine....

No sir, Slow down you definately cannot fire what ever you want out of any choke. I have to look for that diameter to see if I still have the chart. No slugs for sure per mossberg

Slugs may be fired through choke tubes except those with X-Full constrictions or designated "Turkey tubes". Generally, open choke tube constrictions will produce more consistently accurate groups. The "Improved Cylinder" tube is a popular choice for slug shooting.

They are crazy putting no. 4 buck through a .660 are you sure it is not 760???. here is the 935 restrictions

Mossberg M835/M935 12 Gauge Flush Mount Replacement Choke Tubes
Item # Constriction Diameter
19951 Cylinder .774
19952 Skeet .767
19953 Improved Cylinder .760
19954 Modified .743
19955 Improved Modified .735
19956 Full .727
19957 Extra-Full* .710
19958 Turkey* .680
Extended Turkey
19872 .705
19871 .690
19870 .675

So you have 4 possible turkey chokes noine recommended for buck shot and their recommendation for no. 4 buck is their coyote choke 30048 but no restriction given
On my brownings with no. 4 buck I pattern with modified and full lead chokes with good success.I would try your modified and see how that patterns

Thanks guys.... I kinda figured that the .660 was way to tight for the #4buck.
I think I will be doing some shopping today. There just seems to be so many Chokes and manufactures guidelines for their guns. It can get kinda confusing know what works and what might ruin your firearm.

I figure on either one of the coyote tubes or modified, improved modified or full should work with out any worries.

I have noticed that there are different chokes for: steel, lead, and hi-density shot. I see that carlson also shows some choke descriptons as "Medium range" and "long Range"
talk about confusing OH WELL!
let you know what I come up with today
thank for your replies

I would probally start by looking at the choke mossberg makes for your gun and coyote shooting. I thought it said for no.4 to 000 buck. Price seemed to be lower than some others also. Regardless good luck and kill all them dam coyotes.:D

I apologize for the misinformation... I think it is crazy that you have to look up your chokes to see what will run through them... when I bought the gobble stopper for my remington it came with absolutely no warnings and I was always taght, even during my PAL / RPAL course that foster slugs could be fired through any choke.... dangerous...

Thanks for setting me straight 3macs1!

I grew up using a 16ga wingmaster that shot everything made with a full choke on the end slugs included. Once steel, tungsten and all of this other alloys started to appear choke tubes seemed to turn into a science all their own. Always check the manufacturers specs just to make sure today and even then sometimes there will be problems as I found out shooting black cloud before they made a special choke for it. take care;)

Guys there is a great thread on the predatormasters web site in the fireams section. 34 pages long re: chokes and I have read it 2 twice now..... a lot of it refers to HD ammo. too pricey for me ! But all the info is very good.

I went out today to try to get a Carlson "Dead Coyote" tube. No stock for the accu-mag choke system. So I bought the Mossberg full .750 constriction gonna give it a try.

I think the .660-.680 are for standard bore dia. The 835 and 935 mossbergs are back bored and think they need a more open Choke. Something about the amount of shot going down the barrel all comming to a tightly constricted Choke that can cause damage with the larger shot sizes. No concern for turkey shot sizes as the pellets are much smaller.

AS for killin Coyotes........31 DEAD and Counting!!!!!!!!!!! HE HEEE!!!!!
