I have a choice between two vintage Marlin bolt action 22 magnum rifles. One is a model 783 in mint shape tube fed repeater in 22 magnum . I think it holds 14 in the tube.

The other is a model 882 magazine fed that is equally mint. It comes with original blued 7 rnd magazine and an additional three chrome plated Marlin magazines made for the stainless 882 model.

If you can only buy one what would you choose and why.

Magazine fed all day every day.
Easier to feed at the range and in the field.
Easier to empty as well if moving from one hunting location to another.
Just my rambling thoughts and experience.

^this.

If I was walking all day with the gun only expecting to take a few shots, I'd prefer the tube-fed. Nicer-looking, less to snag on. Otherwise, any other application I'd prefer the box mag.

22 mag is the perfect little rim fire small enough for small game big enough for a coyote either one would b great guns

Exactly, and in the end it is whatever tickles your fancy for the day you decide to take out your Marlin for a walk afield.
Be it range day or hunting or for just plain ole nostalgia.
Op, what are you going to do?
Door #1
Door#2 or
Take them both?
It can be a dilemma ;)

Unloading a tube mag is a pain. For that reason I tend to prefer box mags so I'd probably pick that one.

Marlin with a tube is a classic though...

Either one, in good shape, will work well. The 783 (and 782 variant) seem to have bolt handle issues, they come off. Extractors are getting difficult to source.
