Choosing a Pistol - Canadian Parts Availability?

Hey guys,

I'm fairly new to handgun shooting but I love it. I've been shooting for about 6 months now and am looking to buy my 1st 9mm.

This isn't a thread of "help me pick between X and Y" - everyone has their own preferences. One thing I'm worried about is parts availability. For example, Walther makes some pretty sweet guns. I know mags alone are hard to find for them, so I imagine if a spring or a part dies, it could be almost impossible to get a replacement. Am I wrong in this assumption? I also imagine it would be a bear to get a part shipped in from the US or Germany, if they're even willing to ship to Canada.

Due to this, from what I can tell, it's probably wiser to stick to more popular brands (Glock, Sig, etc.) and models (G17, P226, etc.) since parts should be much easier to get / find in Canada.

Am I overthinking things? Is this as big an issue as I'm making it out to be? Would you overlook something like a CZ, H&K, or Walther in case you needed replacement parts in the future? Thanks.

Whatever you do, if you're buying a .22, DO NOT buy a Sig Mosquito or a Walther P22. Both have major known issues, such as the slides snapping.

If you like Walther, buy it. Then order some spare parts from Wolverine Supplies. May take a few months to arrive but they're get it for you.

Yeah, you might be over thinking this a bit. A rare pistol out of production, maybe. Most current guns have pretty good parts availability. And, like a previous poster said...failures usually occur after thousands of rounds. You've got some time.
