Hey folks I’m pretty new to firearms and hunting and had a question for some more experience hunters/firearm owners. I just got myself a Henry all weather 44 magnum lever action as my bush gun/hunting medium game. I’m wanting to put a scope and wondering what you guys suggest I’m also on a budget... $350 max.
Cabela’s has a cheap lever action scope for around $100 specifically for 44 magnum lever action not sure it that’s a good choice or if I should spend the extra bucks and get something better. Any insight is greatly appreciated!

All I can say is if you can afford the $350 spend it. You get what you pay for with optics, and with $350 you can get a decent scope. For a bush gun a scope in the 3-9 x 40mm range (or 2.5-10 x 40mm) will suit you well and they are popular and affordable models. A few that I would recommend you look at within your budget include,
Leupold VX-freedom
Vortex Diamondback
Nikon Prostaff

I have a Weaver Classix V3 on my Marlin 1894 .44Magnum. The V3 is a variable, 1-3x20mm with a simple duplex reticle and if it were fixed at any magnification (including 1x) within that range it would be fine for a .44Magnum. If you want more magnification, go ahead but you don't need a lot because you aren't going to do well shooting at long range no matter how much bigger the scope makes the target seem. Just practise enough at the range so you know the trajectory of the ammunition you are going to use. A fixed 4x is plenty, a 2.5x will be enough, and that means if you choose the right manufacturer they spent more of their cost on the fundamental quality of the glass and on making the whole thing durable.

If I had the same rifle, I would go with a low power Leupold.

VX3 1-5X20, but a bit higher than your price range. $500-600
VX2 1-4X20, $300-400
VX Freedom 1-4X20, it is the new VX2, $300.
