Chopped M14 without a flash hider installed?

Hi Guys,

Have any of you tried your M14's after cutting back the barrel to 18.5" without adding a flash hider? Does adding a flash hider really make much difference?

I'd like to see a picture of somebody M14 shorty w/o the flash hider installed.

I like that, would look good with a gas lock front sight. Has anyone fired or seen one fired without a flash hider? I'd like to know how much muzzle flash there is.

the flash, at dusk is quite spectacular, as was muzzle jump hehehe
no reason why NOT to run it cut as is though.

Besides helping minimize muzzle jump and flash, a flash hider goes a long way to protecting the muzzle crown from damage. Cheap insurance.

I CUT TWO M305 Norincos to 17.5" (In New Zealand) and the muzzle flash was barely noticeable in daylight with South African ball ammo. The shorties surely handle well.
