CHP Ruger #1 357 Magnum

I would like to know if there is any collectors value/interest in this rifle. It appears to be brand new and may be in unfired condition. I understand that these were made for the California Highway Patrol and there was a production run of 1820. Can anyone comment on this rifle? A value would be appreciated as well.

Cheers, Steve.

I knew pictures would be a good idea...I'll see what I can do by tomorrow but once you have seen one Ruger#1 .....Not sure if its going up for sale but I'll take your offer under consideration....

Cheers, Steve.

Google it and you get a ton of information, right or wrong.
Someone said only 400 produced, in the 1980s.
One sold for $850.
The emblem, CHP, was just that, an emblem and they say almost for sure, never issued to the California Highway Patrol.

Steve are you sure it was not a Ruger #3 carbine?

And if as you describe it has a value atleast $1000 no trouble ,especially for any serious pistol guy who want a rifle to plink with!

I am going to go check my Ruger records to see how many made, cheers Dale Z!

Steve found the info for you,
California HighWay Patrol built 1981 with 1820 unit produced, 357magnum built in the A1 configuration, sold by A.P.B magazine a publication of the California highway Patrol. Roll marked on the left side of frame was LIMITED EDITION, beneath the flying wheel of the CHP trademark.

You sure have yourself a desirable piece of Ruger mania there, I would personnally not take less than what a new A-1 goes for nowadays as it is an easy, easy sell! Hope this helps you out, cheers Dale Z!

The #1's in 357 that didnt get the engraving bring considerably more than the ones that did. If you go on the ruger collectors forum you can get more info.

Price

Steve;

My advice is don't take the $200 offer or even the $300 one, I'll bet you could get 4 or even 450 for it.

I know, I know sarcasm is the lowest form of humor !! (can't even remember how to spell it this morning, geez)

Seriously nice little piece of rarity there Steve, before selling ponder what it may be worth in 20-30 years. So many things I wish I had used some foresight before flogging.
