The whole point of the Israeli method is that it is NOT for experts and "operators", but a technique that can be quickly taught to just about anyone, with a VERY high degree of safety.

Don't forget, most Israelis are NOT gunnutz, and the vast majority of Israeli soldiers are conscripts, many of whom have never used a gun before their national service.

Why not carry with a round in the chamber ?

I've heard that the Israeli handgun method was designed around the Mk1 version of the Browning Hi Power, which had a small, hard to hit and not particularily positive safety, as well as the mish-mash of other mostly single action surplus and captured pistols that they used in their earlier years.

I guess it was decided that it was best to carry in condition 3 for safety and commonality's sake, and rack the slide on the draw.

I've read that carrying in condition 3 is the norm in Israel, I could be wrong though. If this is the case, what he teaches seems reasonable, except for the ninja roll of course.

Interesting that they use the slingshot method to charge the pistol.

Harder to lift a gun off someone also when it's on the hip. Adding the charge time would allow the owner more time to wrestle it back from a thief/terrorist before getting shot with your own weapon too I suppose.
