Work has been very busy this fall so I haven’t had much time in my shop so I was really looking forward to Christmas Hollidays. For some strange reason I decided to rebuild a rusty old 1894 Stevens Favorite. I bought just the action but found a 25 cal barrel and forend and a Cooey barrel and a reproduction buttplate. The rear sight is a Marbles Tang sight with windage but had a big steel bolt on base for a modern Marlin. I milled that off and silver soldered on a new base so it fit the Stevens. The front sight was an odd Lyman 17 that was very long and very high, I milled it down so it looks better now. New buttstock, barrel installed, casehardened, blued and finished it up this morning then took it to the range with my son this afternoon. I shoots really well and is lots of fun. My boy is 6’ 9” and he thought it was a fun little gun to shoot. When I was building it the plan was to sell it to buy more project guns but I think I may have to keep it for a while.
