Chrome liner- how is it done?

This is just a curiosity of mine. So my Chinese SKS has a chrome lined barrel....How is that done? Is it lined with chrome then rifled or vice versa? Is the lining mechanical or
an electroplating (chemical deposition) process?

The bore is drilled and rifled, then a layer of chromium deposited by electroplating using a conformal anode.
