Hello,

I have looked into it online, but am still unsure, how were barrels chrome lined, and how can you tell? I have a K31 and apparently this is made out of chrome/nickel? How can it handle the pressures?

Anyone wishing to take some time to explain to a total newbie, please, go ahead.

Yours,

If the bore has been chrome lined it will be unaffected by cold blue. Clean and test an area close to the muzzle where you can see if it "blues".

Chrome lining has nothing to do with handling pressures any better. It handles erosion better. I don't know how the process is done.

More on the K31 here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K31

Many barrel steels are made using chromium and/or nickel as alloying agents, but this isn't the same thing as the bore being plated (lined) with chromium. Barrels intended for chrome lining are made with the bore slightly oversize to allow for the thickness of the chrome, which is electroplated.

As far as I know, K31s don't use a lined bore.
