Just got my Dillion 650 loader set up for 40sw and now I need a chronagraph, any suggestions on a reasonably priced and idiot proof one, and who has em in stock, most dealers I talk to dont have one.

I think wholesale in calgary stocks them, so if you are in the area check them out. or give them a call it would be quicker than pulling a number and waiting in the store:)

HINT:
If you are gonna buy a Shooting Chrony, make sure you buy the one with remote monitor.

I've been using the same "Shooting Chrony" for almost 20 years now. It's the one with the built in monitor and has never given any trouble at all. When I've compared readings side by side to other chronographs at my range from time to time, I'm convinced of it's essential accuracy too. Mine has lots of bullet holes in the waxy black cardboard screens but none in the metal box so far. I hope that trend continues. Pretty basic unit but I like it fine.

Chrony has the advantage of being manufactured in Canada. When you shoot one (it does happen) or have a malfunction, they are good about providing repairs and/or exchanges.

Customers at Cabelas had left bad ratings for PACT Chronograph with respect to guarantee service and poorly prepared user manuals.

A comparison of CED and Shooting Chrony (both are good) is here: http://accurateshooter.wordpress.com/2007/04/20/new-ced-m2-chronograph/

The comparison test isn't a fair test. You are comaparing an entry level chrony F1 to a more advanced unit. Totally meaningless.

As for the PACT Pro that I have, yes there is a learning curve, yes the instructions aren't that great but they say, on page 2, that you have no intention whatsoever of reading this manual. I did, but you learn more by doing.

I haven't had any problem in the 4 years I've had mine. It has a lifetime warranty to boot.
